Please take two minutes now to show your support for 2014-2015 state arts & culture grants.
Easy and quick directions are listed below.
Goal: Fully Restore Florida’s Investment in Arts & Culture Grants.
Florida has reduced its investment in arts and culture grants administered by the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) by over 73% since 2006-2007 — from $34.4 million to $9.3 million.
Why Restore Florida’s Investments? We know you care about arts & culture resources and understand the value they bring to your community and to our state.
The not-for-profit Florida arts & culture industry generates over $3.1 billion in local economic activity and supports over 88,326 full-time equivalent jobs throughout our state. This creative industry also returns $5 to local and state treasuries for every $1 invested — over $446.5 million annually. We know Arts & Culture are part of the solutions to many challenges that face our communities and state.
What Action Can I Take Now? Please take a couple of minutes now to easily communicate with your Florida Senator and Representative. Encourage them to support the 2014 Florida Legislative Platform for Arts & Culture (Platfrom has links to the recommended ranked lists for each DCA grant-funding category). Just follow the simple directions outlined below to easily send an
e-mail message today to your Florida Senator and Representative.
Organizations That Would Receive 2014-2015 DCA Grants? Over 422 arts and cultural organizations (this document is organized by county with links to each applicant’s website) qualify for 2014-2015 Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) grants. These qualified-grant applicants submitted their applications, met eligibility requirements, were reviewed and recommended by panels, and approved by the Secretary of State to receive DCA state grants only if sufficient funding is appropriated by the Florida Legislature.
Thank you, and Numbers Matter: Your follow-through action is greatly appreciated. Please encourage others in your community who care about arts and culture in our state to also send this simple message to their legislators to support the 2014 Florida Legislative Platform for Arts & Culture. There is power in numbers.
